Rachel & Anthony
July 23, 2023This was my third time photographing Rachel & Anthony and yet again I had the easiest time working with them! They always put their trust in me, coming in with a couple ideas but mostly just letting me go crazy with my style…
It was a crazy humid day in Chicago but they and their big wedding party took it like champs and stayed relaxed. We kept the pace moving quickly to keep things as minimally invasive as possible to the day. Weddings are fun when they’re actually weddings, not full-fledged photoshoots.
We started in the West Loop, took it to the Lincoln Park Conservatory, and then to the Bottom Lounge for the ceremony reception, which was adorable! I hadn’t been in the Bottom Lounge for a wedding so I was really impressed with the place. It showcased their style with the decor and relaxed reception vibes.
During the first dances, I was taking some cropped in shots on a fixed lens of the couple. Suddenly Anthony started to LIFT Rachel into an all-out spin, and I was so worried I wouldn’t catch it (back literally against the wall, and frame as far back as I could get it) What came of that in the editing process were these perfectly imperfect blurry photos of the two of them looking like they’re having the time of their life.
That’s the thing about weddings. You worry and worry and worry about this perfect day, and at the end of it all, it was perfect because it was real; like all good things in life. including the photos. Thanks to Rachel and Anthony for putting their trust in me.
